Hello friends and welcome fall!!
This year has certainly flown by!
It has been a time of finishing up projects. Not all, but a few have
certainly been enjoyable. Last year I started a reflection painting
that I had been inspired to paint by my daily walks along our little
creek. It was amazingly detailed and complicated and at times I thought
I would go crosseyed trying to keep up with where each leaf or shadow
should be in the painting.
It was a labor of love to say the least. Multiple days and hours broken
into short sessions got me to the final touch of my brush.
The title of "Peaceful Reflections" certainly speaks more of my
feelings as I stared into the stream - and not of my feelings while
painting it! However it was worth the effort! It received a Merit Award
in the 81st National Exhibition of the Watercolor Society of Alabama by
judge Betty Carr. The exhibit was held in Heritage Hall Museum in
Talladega, Al. The show had amazing work from across the US. It is
currently available to view at the www.watercolorsocietyofal.org . I
invite you to check out all the entries.

Peaceful Reflections
" Forged in Fire " Received the Award of Excellence in the WSA Alabama
Members' Showcase this month! I am beside myself! Thanks to award
winning artist /judge Larry Lombardo of Pennsylvania for the honor!
This painting was inspired by photos I took in Hannibal,Missouri at a
Folk Festival that I attended while visiting with my son last October.
This vendor was demonstrating his trade at a booth in the street. I
found his work very fascinating. While I was photographing him, I
noticed the light bouncing off his glasses, hand and hair and I knew I
had to capture that rugged intense look, as he hammered at the glowing
iron. I hope it makes you wonder about the process, and think about a
time when things were produced with pride, patience and skill.
*Prints will be available of these two paintings. Contact me for
pricing and sizes if you are interested.
It is also on the Alabama Watercolor Society 's website along with my
other entry" Day Dreamin'"- (of which I just added a fun little video,
to my website) I hope you will check it out!
Until next time,
happy painting!
Nancy
